Class / Workshop Descriptions
Links to course description are available in the chart on the below.
Newborning (usually called reborning) is the process of transforming an unpainted doll kit into a doll that looks and feels as lifelike as possible. This is accomplished with painting, applying hair that looks natural, and adding weight in just the right places to create the illusion of realism. You will be amazed at the results--especially when your doll is mistaken for a real baby!
NOTE: Most of our dolls are made from doll kits so the correct term to describe the process would be "newborning." However, we use the word "reborn" to refer to our dolls and classes since most people are more familiar with that term.
We are located in the East Valley of the Phoenix, Arizona, metro area. A minimum of 3 students and a maximum of 5 can be accommodated in our Gilbert location.
We will travel to other Valley locations in the metro area for larger groups if there is access to necessary items, such as an oven to heat set the paints.
Class Reservations
Class attendance must be confirmed at least 2 weeks in advance by paying a non-refundable deposit to reserve your spot. This is needed to allow time to receive any kits and supplies from the manufacturer If the class does not fill or it is necessary for the instructor to cancel the class, your deposit will be refunded.
Prices
Our prices normally include everything you need to create a beautiful baby. All or part of the cost of mohair and/or mohair wigs is included in the class fee. However, there may be an additional charge for mohair and mohair wigs if there is a price increase from the supplier.
We believe that your learning experience should be as fun and stress -free as possible so you can nurture your creativity! Most of our classes feature non-toxic, American-made, Secrist doll kits. With Secrist you can concentrate on making a beautiful baby doll. No worries about heating Secrist vinyl as it is made to withstand the oven heat required to set the paint! With a Secrist doll you can focus on the fun of bringing you doll to life.
Beginning Reborning classes are scheduled on a regular basis at least once every 4 – 8 weeks. The skills learned in the beginning class provide the foundation upon which to learn more advanced techniques, and is a pre-requisite for the advanced classes. Advanced classes are scheduled as requested by students who are interested in further development of the art.
