Are you curious about how reborn/newborn dolls are made and would like to begin this new hobby? Or are you ready to start the process of learning how to make fine artist dolls to sell?

This class is a perfect introduction to the art form. In this class you will learn to paint a beautiful Secrist doll fit for a family heirloom.

We will teach you how to apply layers of heat set paint to create lifelike baby skin along with the blushing, creasing, nails and lip color that will make your baby come alive. You will learn basic doll construction, including an introduction to mohair and rooting. You will have the option of learning to root the hair on your baby or using a clear cap wig.

This class is packed with information and demonstrations. The doll will be finished except for the hair during the class.  Students will be provided with rooting instructions in order to complete the doll at home.

The price of this class includes everything you will need to complete your baby*. Lunch is included so the only things you need to pack are your energy and enthusiasm!

What is the difference between the 1-day beginning newborning class and this workshop?

• Workshop features a kit with longer limbs compared to the 1/4-length limbs used in the 1-day class.
• Workshop focuses on color theory and mixing Genesis paints while the one-day class features pre-mixed paints.

• Optional:  Doll cap or bonnet for class newborn photo, clothing for your doll (may be purchased during class)
• Optional:  Old shirt or apron to protect clothing
• Optional: Magnifying glasses (reading glasses)
• Optional:  Rooting needles (can be purchased during class)
• Optional:  Pin Vise to hold rooting needle (can be purchased during workshop)

Last date to sign up for this class is April 23, 2010.  If a minimum number of persons do not register, class will be cancelled. If class is cancelled by the instructor, all registration fees will be refunded or applied to another class at the student's request.

• Use of plastic weighting pellets
• Eyelashes (in case you prefer not to root them)
• Wig allowance.  Part of the cost of mohair or mohair wig
  
  NOTE:  Due to the increased price of mohair and wigs, we can no longer include it in the cost of the class. However, class registration does include a small "hair" allowance that is appled to cost of a mohair or clear cap wig
