A baby doll kit normally consists of a doll head, limbs, and a body.  Sometimes one or more of the components must be purchased separately.  At Play Days Dolls, we make it easy for you by carrying complete kits. 

We currently carry a few brands of doll kits, and will discuss two of them here--Secrist and Apple Valley Doll Works.  Of course we will add more great kits as we find them. 

A Secrist doll kit consists of a doll head, limbs and a body.  If the doll sculpt you choose has eyes,  they are pre-inserted according to your color choice.  The body pack consists of the pre-sewn cloth body, vinyl arms and legs, and fasteners. 

Once you receive your Secrist kit, the fun begins.  We carry DVD instructions for "newborning" a life-like baby doll from a kit.  We sell the supplies you will need to bring life to your doll.  Many people prefer to purchase the starter kit that inclues everything you will need to complete the newborning process.

An Apple Valley Doll Works kit consists of a doll head, limbs, and a body just as the Secrist kits do.  The difference is that you can order Apple Valley dolls painted or unpainted so that you can make a doll even if you feel you have no artistic skill.   If you enjoy reborning or newborning dolls, you will want to choose the unpainted version so you do not have to remove the factory paint. 

Both kits offer pre-inserted eyes with your choice of eye color. Many newborn and reborn artists choose to micro root the doll's head with mohair so that it has the most life-like appearance possible.  If you would prefer not to hand-root the doll's head, Play Days Dolls carries a wide variety of wigs.

The materials with which you stuff your doll and assemble it will determine if it is a play doll or a collectible.
