Comparison of Kits from Apple Valley Doll Works and Secrist Doll Company We hope you enjoy shopping for your favorite doll kits from Secrist Dolls and Apple Valley Doll Works. The listings begin below this comparison of the two types of doll kits.
 Apple Valley Doll Works is a sister company to Secrist Dolls. Apple Valley produces kits that are ready to assemble with eyes pre-inserted. Unless the unpainted option is selected, they have factory-painted vinyl limbs and heads with eyelashes applied and eyes inserted.
VINYL COMPARISON OF PROPERTIES - Secrist vs. Apple Valley
Please note that the vinyl used in Apple Valley kits is generally harder than the vinyl used to make Secrist doll kits. The "medium" vinyl is significantly harder than Secrist dark translucent vinyl, and is best suited to wigging rather than rooting.
Apple Valley doll kits are available in one, two, or all three of the following vinyl colors:
1. Extra Light
2. Light
3. Medium (a dark vinyl suited for ethnic dolls)
Secrist vinyl, on the other hand, has translucency--a see through quality--that is best suited to paints and techniques used to create "reborn" / "newborn" baby dolls. Secrist vinyl is also very soft and perfect for rooting hair on your doll. Most Secrist doll kits come in either dark translucent or light translucent vnyl.
Some doll kits appear in the product lines of both Apple Valley and Secrist Dolls. Some doll kits are available in both lines. If the doll kit is ordered from the Secrist product list, it will be available with the attributes of any Secrist Dolls kit. If the doll kit is ordered from the Apple Valley Doll Works product line, it will usually be produced in the Secrist vinyl that is translucent, and will come painted unless specified otherwise.
